This book club will run from October 1 - 22, 2024, with sessions taking place on Tuesdays from 12 - 1:30 pm (PT). Sessions will be held via Zoom, and recordings will be available for registrants not able to attend a session here and there. Meet the Author

Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson is a scientist, policy expert, writer, and teacher working to help create the best possible climate future. She co-­founded and leads Urban Ocean Lab, a think tank for the future of coastal cities, and is the Roux Distinguished Scholar at Bowdoin College. Ayana authored the forthcoming book What If We Get It Right?: Visions of Climate Futures, co-edited the bestselling anthology All We Can Save, co-created and co-­hosted the Spotify/Gimlet podcast How to Save a Planet, and co-­authored the Blue New Deal, a roadmap for including the ocean in climate policy. She earned a BA in environmental science and public policy from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in marine biology from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She serves on the board of directors for Patagonia and GreenWave, and on the advisory board of Environmental Voter Project. Above all: Ayana is in love with climate solutions.

About the Book club program

Join us for four enriching weekly sessions where participants will gather online, guided by the experienced hosts Amy Lenzo and David Shaw. Known for their dynamic Community Conversations events with Bioneers Learning, Amy and David will lead our discussions with valuable expertise. Each participant will receive comprehensive reading guides to enhance their experience.

Amy Lenzo, who pioneered the World Cafe online process and has hosted hundreds of online World Cafes with people from all over the world since then, has been hosting conscious online engagement for over a decade and has been a cutting-edge leader in creating distinctly human interactive online spaces that help us connect with ourselves, each other and the natural world.

David Shaw, a whole systems designer, facilitator, educator, and musician, founded Santa Cruz Permaculture and the UCSC Right Livelihood Center, a partnership with the “Alternative Nobel Prize.” He supports communities locally and globally to transform their shared future through strategic dialogue and collective action.
